The aim of the scheme is to promote responsible management of licensed premises and in doing so, recognise and reward good practice. Ensuring our city is a safe and enjoyable place to enjoy a night out is vital to the economic growth and sustainability of the city.

The scheme, which launched in 14th November 2007, actively promotes a safer, more secure environment in which to enjoy yourself in the city.

The scheme aims to reward venues that are well managed and that take customer safety seriously. The scheme is voluntary and requires active participation on the part of the licensee in completing a standard application booklet. Once completed, the venue will be judged by independent assessors based around certain criteria, i.e. public safety issues, prevention of crime and disorder, and so on.
